Radu E. SESTRAŞ 

Radu E. SESTRAŞ (born June 3, 1961, in Hida, Salaj county, Romania). Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture in Cluj-Napoca (1985), PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding (1997). Researcher at the Fruit Research Station Cluj (1990-1994), from 1994 passed to the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca. Subjects: Plant Breeding, Biostatistics and experimental technique; professor, PhD coordinator, Vice-dean (2004-2008) and Dean (2008 -) of the Faculty of Horticulture in Cluj-Napoca. Author or co-author of 14 books and chapters in specialized books and over 200 scientific papers published in Romania and abroad. First author or co-author of 21 new approved cultivars, nine of apple and 12 of pear. Membership in scientific and professional societies and associations: International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (Eucarpia), Romanian Society of Horticulture (SRH), honorary president of the Horticulture and Forestry Society from Transylvania (SHST) etc. Associate member of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences “Gheorghe Ionescu-Şişeşti” (ASAS), member of the “Agricultural, forestry and veterinary medicine” - Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS); Vice-President of “Plant and animal resources engineering” commission - National Council of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates Attestation (CNATDCU); RNE evaluation expert. Diplomas and medals for academic and professional recognition (eg. Diploma “Socio Onorario” - Honorary Member – elected by the La Società di Medicina e Scienze Naturali dell’ Universita di Parma, Italy, 2005; “Rudy G.” Medal, granted by the Senate of the Agricultural State University of Moldova, Chisinau, 2007 etc.). General Editor and reviewer of AcademicPres Publishing house and journals “Bulletin of University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca” (with four series: Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Breeding and Biotechnologies, Veterinary Medicine).
