Cluj-Napoca is the third largest city in Romania, and the seat of Cluj County, in north-western Transylvania, Romania. Geographically, it is roughly equally distant from Bucharest, Budapest and Belgrade (325-350 km). The city is the capital of the historical province of Transylvania.

The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UASVM or USAMV) Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is the successor of the prestigious high school of agriculture of Cluj. The history of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca began in October 1869 when, on the former domain of Manastur, was founded one of the oldest higher schools specialized in agriculture in Europe, under the name of Institute of Agronomic Studies, Cluj-Manastur.
